Coaldale Dental Centre was founded in 1980 by Dr. Peter MacLean. Our second office opened in Bow Island in 1983. Dr. Jackie Pitstra serves as our general dentist and works with our staff to provide the communities of Southern Alberta with professional dental care.

Meet The Team
Dr. Jackie Pitstra
Dentist
Dr. Jackie Pitstra joined Coaldale Dental Centre in 2001. Born and raised in Calgary, she attended the University of Calgary where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1994, she completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at the University of Alberta. Dr. Pitstra went on to practice dentistry in Saskatoon for 6 years before moving to Coaldale. She holds a membership in the Canadian Dental Association, the Alberta Dental Association, and the Calgary & District Dental Society.
Dr. Pitstra is married and has two sons. She enjoys volunteering at the Coaldale District Chamber of Commerce and her church. An enthusiastic cyclist, Dr. Pitstra can be found cycling in the summer months on the highway between Coaldale and Bow Island.
Dr. Krysten Lohues
Dentist
We are pleased to introduce and welcome Dr. Krysten Lohues to our Clinic:
Dr. Krysten Lohues was raised in Vulcan, Alberta. She has always known since she was very young that she wanted to become a dentist, and pursued that career passionately her entire life. She graduated from University of Alberta Dental School in 2016, where she received a degree in Medical Sciences as well as her Doctor of Dental Surgery. Krysten also has a passion for treating children, and enjoys helping kids of all ages in the dental clinic. She received the Arthur D Cumming Medal in 2016 for Excellence in paediatric dentistry. After graduation, Krysten moved to Lethbridge to be closer to her family. Krysten is a member of the Alberta Dental Association & College, Canadian Dental Association, and is certified to administer TMJ injection treatments.
Krysten married Connor Lohues in 2013, and they together have two sons, Aro and Oskar, who they love and adore. Krysten also harbours a love for all things Disney, and very often spends her time drawing fan art and re-watching classic movies from her childhood with her son. Krysten also enjoys running, yoga, reading, and spending time with her niece & nephews. Dr. Krysten Lohues is very excited to be joining our practice here at Coaldale Dental Centre, and can’t wait to meet you!

Practice Manager
Armed with 20 plus years of office experience, Cori keeps our Coaldale branch running at peak efficiency. Her adaptability, coupled with her natural listening abilities, help her maintain relationships within the office.
Caroline
Receptionist
Hailing from Denmark and raised in Alberta, Caroline is a U of L B.Sc. graduate with a passion for outdoor adventures. She enjoys hunting, hiking, and gardening. Caroline's love for animals shines through her care for her dogs, Wren and Murph, and a rescued leopard gecko, Rango Spike.
Robin
Receptionist
With a solid foundation in Medical and Dental Administration from Training Inc., Robin has been an invaluable member of our Coaldale Dental team since June 2022. When not at the office, Robin enjoys hiking and cherishing quality time spent with family.
Morgan
Receptionist
A dedicated Canucks fan, Morgan hails from Ontario and has been in Alberta for over three years. With experience in dental and denture offices, she brings valuable expertise to our team. Morgan loves to travel and enjoys golfing in her free time, making her a warm and personable addition to our practice.
Melissa
Dental Hygienist
Working at both our Coaldale and Bow Island offices, Melissa’s desire to teach proper oral health care – along with a penchant for making others laugh – helps her build deep and lasting connections with patients and coworkers.
Kira
Dental Hygienist
Kira loves to create holistic health routines for her patients in Coaldale – and give them sparkling, confident new smiles! She holds a Dental Hygiene Diploma along with a Bachelors of Science specializing in dental hygiene.
Tiana
Dental Hygienist
A local to Coaldale, Tiana earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Alberta in April 2022. She enjoys the familiarity of her hometown in her work, connecting with patients and seeing many friendly faces at our Coaldale Dental office.
Darcie
Dental Assistant
Darcie is a diligent worker who’s always very excited to meet each patient in our Coaldale and Bow Island offices. She’s a graduate from the College of the Rockies Registered Dental Assistant program.
Tamarin
Dental Assistant
A SAIT graduate from 2020, Tamarin has been a vital part of the Coaldale Dental team since April 2021. She boasts a unique talent for ripping apples in half and shares her name with a species of monkey.
Shekinah
Dental Assistant
Having just completed her training at KDM Calgary, Shekinah joined our Coaldale Dental team in October 2022 after a successful practicum. A proud dog owner, she loves spending time with her 6-year-old pup, Winter. Shekinah's adventurous spirit led her to go skydiving in Vancouver a few years ago.
Miranda
Dental Assistant
Miranda joined Coaldale Dental in June 2022, after completing her Kinesiology degree at the University of Lethbridge and dental assistant training at the College of the Rockies. A candle-making enthusiast, Miranda also spent some time teaching kindergarten in China.
