To do that, we’re offering injection treatments to residents of Coaldale, Lethbridge, and southern Alberta for a simple, quick solution to TMJ and other associated issues. The best part is – you’re in, out and back about your day in a short and sweet appointment.
Your trained injection specialist in Lethbridge and Coaldale
As dentists, we take on challenging procedures every day, working with our customers to ensure their smiles truly shine. To be able to properly take care of your teeth, we’ve undergone years of training on various medical techniques, including the proper use of needles.
This experience positions us perfectly to give you more during your visit to Coaldale Dental.
Of course, becoming a licensed specialist requires more than just purchasing a license. Beyond dental school, we’ve spent hours of training directly from Allergan to ensure we have the skills necessary to provide natural-looking results, every time.
The science behind injection treatments
Jaw clenching and teeth grinding can cause damage to both the teeth and the temporomandibular joint that attaches the jaw to the base of the skull.
When a patient constantly clenches this joint or unconsciously grinds their teeth, it increases wear on tooth enamel and causes pain to shoot from the joint. By injecting the jaw, we can cause it to relax and stop both unconscious clenching and grinding.
How injection treatment can help you
Our injections go beyond simply helping those who deal with bruxism (grinding teeth while sleeping) and TMJ. Using our injection technique we can:
- help ease the fitment of new dentures
- relax a ‘high lip line’ to create a less ‘gummy smile’
- fight TMJ and bruxism

Injectables Pre-Treatment Instructions
In an ideal situation, it is prudent to follow some simple guidelines before treatment that can make all the difference between a fair result and great result, by reducing some possible side effects associated with the injections. We realize this is not always possible; however, minimizing these risks is always desirable.
- Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment. Alcohol may thin the blood which will increase the risk of bruising.
- Avoid all substances that may thin the blood and increase chances of bruising: Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Alcohol, Vitamin E, St Johns Wart, Garlic, Turmeric, Ginkgo and Omega Fatty Acids.
- Let your practitioner know if you are on any prescribed anticoagulants. Never stop taking your prescribed medications prior to talking to your Doctor.
- Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior or a special event which may be occurring. It is not desirable to have a very special event occurring and be bruised from an injection which could have been avoided.
- Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink, before your treatment. This will decrease your chances of light-headedness during and after treatment.
- You are not a suitable candidate if you’re breastfeeding or pregnant.
- Your face must be clear of make-up and lotions the day of treatment. If you wash your face the morning of your appointment, use a mild face wash and do not exfoliate.
- Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal creams in the area being treated.
Injectables Post-Operative Care Instructions
- Wait at least 24 hours after injection before consuming alcohol, as alcohol increases the risk of bruising.
- Do NOT rub or massage the treated areas for 2 hours after your treatment. Do NOT do strenuous exercise for 4 hours after treatment.
- For the first 24 hours, avoid facials, facial massages, exfoliating scrubs and dermal fillers.
- Try your best to avoid sleeping on the injected areas. This will minimize the physical pressure and let the injection settle into your muscles. Also avoid sleeping within 4 hours after your procedure.
- Avoid sun exposure and other forms of heat such as tanning beds, hot tubs, hot showers or baths and saunas for at least 4 hours.
- Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal creams in the area being treated.
- Try to exercise your treated muscles for 1-2 hours after treatment. (I.e. practice frowning, raising your eyebrows or squinting.) This will help to work the injection into your muscles.
- Be assured that any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours. If you need to apply make-up within 4 hours after treatment, only use a gentle touch to avoid rubbing the treated area.
- Results of your treatment may take up to 14 days to take full effect. Please wait until the 14 days has passed before assessing if you are pleased with the results.
